Anwarul Haq Ahadi announces new industrial policy

Published

Minister of Commerce and Industries Dr. Anwarul Haq Ahadi announced yesterday that the government was launching a new industrial policy.

Little information has been given as yet, but we do know that import duties on goods that are also manufactured domestically are to rise. The aim is to get local people to buy Afghan manufactured goods rather than imported goods.

The government has also announced new soft loans for industrialists with rates starting at 8% rather than the current 18%.

The government is also mulling with the idea of a tax holiday until businesses are able to be self-sustaining.
