Australia pledges money and support

Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard has pledged $200 million in financial assistance to Pakistan over the next three years.

The pledge was made at a side meeting with President Asif Ali Zardari at the NATO summit in Chicago. The money, which will be disbursed under the Australia-Pakistan Partnership Programme, will be used to provide assistance in the fields of education, agriculture and vocational training.
