Published

Ninety-six soldiers were killed and more than 200 were injured when a suicide bomber exploded a bomb in the middle of an army parade rehearsing for Independence Day.

An Al Qaeda group claimed responsibility for the bombing and said it was in retaliation for government attacks on rebel strongholds in the south of the country. The army has launched an offensive against key rebel held towns and strongholds killing many rebels in the last two weeks.

President Abdo Rabbuh Mansur Al-Hadi has vowed that there will be no let up on the army offensive.
