Cabinet approves railway expansion

The Thai Cabinet has approved the start of a 15 year 3,000km expansion of the high speed railway system.

On Tuesday the Cabinet approved the building of a 106km stretch of track between Chachoengsao and Saraburi provinces. An additional three rail bypasses will be built to ease congestion at railway junctions in Chachoengsao, Saraburi and Ayutthaya as well as a railway and tunnel project at Phraphuttachai Mountain in Saraburi.
