Cabinet awards oil and gas deals

Published

Iraq’s Cabinet has agreed oil and gas exploration deals with Pakistani and Russian companies as part of a new round of auctions to expand the country’s energy sector.

The original auction took place in May and the contracts awarded relate to Block 8 which has been awarded to Pakistan Petroleum for gas exploration, Block 10 which was awarded to a group led by Russia’s Lukoil and Block 12 which was awarded to Russia’s Bashneft.

According to several news agencies the Cabinet did not award a contract for Block 9 which had been awarded to Kuwait Energy because the oil ministry still has to complete some procedures.
