Conservatives increase lead

Published

The latest opinion poll would suggest that Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s Conservative Party have increased their lead slightly in the latest opinion poll by the same agency.  This comes at a time when the Speaker of the House, Peter Milliken, has considered them in contempt for two infringements.

The poll by EKOS was taken in late February and early March so it may be that the results were too late to record public opinion on the contempt issue.  Equally it would appear that voters like the economic management of the current government and are prepared to forgive them whilst the economy remains strong.

The results of the poll were:

Conservatives 35.2%

Liberal Party 27.8%

New Democrats 14.9%

Greens 10.1%

Bloc Quebecois 8.8%

Others 3.1%
