Day of Rage

Young protesters using social media and mobile phones were out on the streets of Libya today (17th February 2011) for what was dubbed a Day of Rage.

There are known to have been clashes in several centres including Benghazi, Al Bayda and Tripoli. There are widespread reports of death and injuries.

President Moammar Gaddafi has been in power since 1969.
