Donors pledge $4 billion

At a special meeting of donors in Riyadh a total of $4 billion has been pledged to help Yemen rebuild its economy. The largest amount, $3.25 billion was pledged by Saudi Arabia with a number of other countries promising smaller amounts. The United Kingdom has pledged a further $44 million on top of the aid already being supplied.

The conference was informed that Yemen would need an immediate $2.17 billion to stabilise the country and a further $5.8 billion to develop the economy and develop the national infrastructure.
