Elections to be combined

Published

The presidential and legislative elections in Taiwan are to be combined in future. An eleven person committee resolved the issue after a public consultation and polling which suggested that around 60% of the public were in favour of combined polls.

The elections slated for January and March 2012 will now be combined although there was no decision as to which date will be adopted.

Currently the Kuomintang holds 73 of the 113 seat parliament with the Democratic Progressive Party holding 33 seats.
