Fighting to stop on 12th April

United Nations special envoy Kofi Annan, appears to have secured an agreement between the Syrian Government and rebel fighters in the country to a ceasefire on 12th April.

The agreement states that both sides will withdraw their fighters within twenty-four hours of 10th April, meaning the ceasefire will come into operation at 6 a.m. local time on the 12th.

The agreement also means that the Syrian army will withdraw its forces from the cities, that humanitarian aid will be allowed to enter the areas and talks between the opposition and the government. The United Nations is sending up to 300 observers to monitor the ceasefire.
