Gaddafi family flee to Algeria

Published

Members of the Gaddafi family have fled to Algeria, although not Gaddafi himself or his son, Saif al-Islam Muammar al-Gaddafi.

The short statement issued by the Algeria Press Service (APS) states, Muammar Gaddafi’s wife, Safia, daughter Aicha, sons Hannibal and Mohamed, accompanied by their children entered Algeria at 08h45 am via the Algerian-Libyan border.

Khamis al-Gaddafi, another son and the commander of the feared Khamis Brigade or 32nd Reinforced Brigade of the Armed People, is believed to have been killed in a NATO airstrike recently.

The National Transitional Council (NTC) have asked for their return to face trial.
