Gazprom buys Kyrgyzgas for $1

The Kyrgyz parliament has approved the sale of Kyrgyzgas to Russia’s Gazprom for $1 according to a report on the “24.kg” News Agency website.

The report says that 78 deputies voted for the ratification which will see Gazprom taking on all Kyrgyzgas debt obligations and in return Gazprom will supply natural gas to Kyrgyzstan along with all relevant infrastructure.

The report says that the Russians will invest in the construction of the second leg of the main gas pipeline in Chui region and they have been given assurances that “investments of Gazprom and its revenues on the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic enjoy full and unconditional protection and cannot be expropriated and nationalized”.
