Generals stand down en masse

Chief-of-staff General Isik Kosaner and the commanders of the land, air and naval forces all resigned their posts on Friday.

Analysts are reporting that this is the first sign that the government is winning the tussle with the military over their involvement in politics. Several reports suggest that this should be seen as a good sign and an acknowledgement that the senior army staff currently under arrest for an alleged military coup back in 2003 have some validity.
