Government survive confidence vote

The government has survived a confidence vote which took place last night. Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi moved the confidence vote last Friday after a vote of no confidence in the transport minister, Austin Gatt, was only defeated with the casting vote of the parliamentary speaker.

The vote last night was won by 35 votes in favour and 34 against.
