Government to invest $8.5 billion in infrastructure

The government of Uzbekistan has announced that it plans to invest around $8.5 billion in infrastructure over the next few years; money will come from local and international investors.

Around $3.54 billion will be invested in construction and rehabilitation of roads according to the Trend news agency. A further $2.2 billion will be spent on the development and electrification of the railways and $1 billion will go towards air transport. A further $1.8 billion has been allocated for telecommunications.
