Handover to elected Congress takes place today

The National Transitional Council will hand over to the newly elected interim National Congress today following last month’s general election.

National Transitional Council NTC leader Mustafa Abdel Jalil is expected to handover to the oldest member of the new 200-seat parliament. The Libya Herald is reporting, however, that the new legislators will move to elect a Speaker during the same session.

With 120 of the 200 members being elected as Independents there will follow a lot of late night negotiations to form a new Cabinet around which the country can move forward. The expectation is that a new government will be formed within tend days.
