Massive infrastructure programme announced

Published

The National Development and Reform Commission has approved a wide range of infrastructure projects amounting to 1 trillion Yuan, about $156 billion.

The projects cover highways, ports, airports, sewage networks and waste treatment plants. There are also announcements for 25 urban rail projects.

More information can be found on the National Development and Reform Commission website (Chinese version) – see our country page for link.

President Hu Jintao has also urged regional leaders at the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit (APEC) which finished yesterday to spend more on infrastructure development across the region to counter the ‘grave challenges’ from the global economy.
