Minister tells companies not to buy British

Published

Minister for Industry, Debora Giorgi, has sent out a message to the top 30 companies importing British goods to stop doing so. The Buenos Aires Herald reports that Industry ministry officials have been contacting the companies who have increased their imports from Britain with the message.

Apparently the companies have been told to do business with suppliers from countries that respect Argentina‚Äôs “sovereignty claims and resources.” The comment is a reference to the dispute over the Falkland Islands or Malvinas between Argentina and the United Kingdom.
