Published

In an opinion poll conducted by the US based Pew Research Center, 54% of the respondents said that they wanted the 1979 treaty with Israel to be annulled. Only 36% were in favour of the treaty.

In the same poll around 70% looked favourably upon the Islamist Muslim Brotherhood and the secular April 6 movement. There is still high support for the armed forces but the United States could only manage a 20% favourability rating.

Egyptians are also happy with the results of the revolution. About two thirds said that they were satisfied with the direction in which the country was heading. When asked about their concerns, 82% said economic conditions were most important, 79% said a free and fair judicial system mattered , 63% mentioned law and order and 55% said honest elections.
