New interim PM

Interim president Dioncounda Traore has appointed a new interim prime minister.

The new temporary prime minister until elections can be held will be Cheick Modibo Diarra a 60 year old American citizen and former executive of Microsoft Africa.

Meanwhile, the junta, which was supposed to have handed over to the new interim president, raided two houses on Tuesday and arrested ex-prime minister Modibo Sidibe and Soumaila Cisse, a former minister without the apparent knowledge of the interim president. Both men were candidates in this months, now delayed, presidential election.
