New Kurdish MP banned from Parliament

Published

The election is no sooner over than the old problems have re-materialised. One of the 36 newly elected Kurdish independent candidates, Hatip Dicle, has been banned from parliament by Turkey’s High Election Board.

The ban is because the new MP is said to have spread terrorist propaganda. The ban immediately led to demonstrations by Kurdish supporters and threats of more violence.
