Opposition walks away from talks

Published

The main opposition group Al Wefaq has walked out of the National Dialogue talks which started two weeks ago complaining that the government had a ‘predetermined outcome’ to the talks.

Al Wefaq took around 60% of votes in the national election last year, but their 18 MPs walked out of parliament earlier this year in protest at the violence against street protesters. They were given five places at the dialogue talks out of around 300 places.
