Pakistan coalition partner pulls out

Published

The second largest party in Pakistan’s coalition, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has left the government and moved to the opposition benches because of government’s fuel prices policy.

The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) led by Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani’s loses its majority as a result.  They may try and gather some smaller opposition parties into government or face a no confidence vote which, if lost, will result in an early general election.
