Parliament suspended for one month

Published

Emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad Al-Sabah yesterday suspended parliament for one month with effect from Monday.

The move comes after months of warfare between the opposition dominated parliament and the Cabinet dominated by the ruling Al-Sabah family.

The parliament has accused various ministers of wrongdoing and irregularities and has tried to force them to answer questions in front of parliament. The suspension is presumably designed to allow time for dialogue between the two parties.
