Parties close to agreement on new PM

Formal talks on Monday between Lebanese parties saw former Prime Minister Najib Mikati as the front runner to take over as Prime Minister.

Makati has the support of Hezbollah who caused the crisis by walking away from the current government on 12th January. Hezbollah were upset that the then Prime Minister, Saad Hariri was supporting the Special Tribunal for Lebanon which has been investigating the 2005 assassination of his father and former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.
