Published

Prime Minister Mohammed Abdullahi Mohammed announced on Sunday that he was resigning following an agreement between the President and Speaker. The Kampala Accord has agreed to extend the mandate of the transitional government by a further year to August 2012 but part of the deal was that the PM should resign within 30 days.

Originally the Prime Minister had said that he would not be party to the deal which has not been endorsed by parliament, however on Sunday he changed his mind.
