President calls on Social Democrats to form coalition government

Published

Following the collapse of the government last week when two parties withdrew their support, President Almazbek Atambayev has called on his Social Democratic Party of Kyrgyzstan (SDPK) to form a new government.

The SDPK will now have fifteen working days to form a coalition. If they fail then the president will ask another parliamentary group to try. If there is no government after three attempts then parliament will be dissolved and an election called. The next scheduled parliamentary election is in 2015.
