Published

President Mohamed Moncef Marzouki has decided to extend a state of emergency order for a further three months. The new state of emergency will now run until 1st February 2013. The decision was taken after consultation with Prime Minister Hamadi Jebali and Chairman of the National Constituent Assembly, Mustafa Ben Jaafar.

The state of emergency has been in place since January 2011 and the need has been emphasized in recent weeks following a series of attacks, including one on the US Embassy, by Salafists.
