President will not seek election in 2013

Published

President Ali Abdullah Saleh has said that he will not seek re-election in 2013. He has also said that he will not expect his son to inherit the title.

The President has been in power since 1978. His announcement would appear to be a reaction to events in Tunisia and Egypt as well as the protests that have taken place in his own country. It is unclear if this statement will be good enough for protesters.
