Protests continue with more violence

Published

Yesterday there were further street protests on the back of the funeral of a protester who was killed last week in anti-government protests.

The funeral attracted a large crowd which resulted in clashes between riot police and the protesters.

The continuing problems come as Formula One motor racing comes to the country next weekend. The event was cancelled last year but is going ahead this year despite protests from a large number of human rights organisations who claim that it gives legitimacy to the government and endorses its crackdown on protests.
