Rafah crossing to open permanently

Published

The Middle East News Agency has announced that Egypt intends to open the Rafah crossing between Egypt and Gaza from Saturday.

Previously the crossing had been closed at the request of the Israeli government to help them monitor people and goods going in to Gaza for security reasons. The crossing will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day except Fridays and holidays and will ease the previous isolation of the 1.4 million Palestinians living in Gaza.
