Royal committee to reform constitution

King Abdullah II has announced the establishment of a royal committee to draw up amendments to the current constitution to bring about changes to the political life of the country.

He has asked the committee to take due note of the recommendations of the National Dialogue Committee established last month. In particular he has said that he wants to see a parliament with supervisory and legislative functions as well as an independent judiciary.
