Ruling party drops 9 points in opinion polls

New opinion polling puts the ruling Civic Platform in Poland down 9% since Christmas to 45%. The same opinion poll puts the Law and Justice Party on 30%, Democratic Left Alliance on 12% and the Polish Peasant’s Party on 5%.

A general election has to be held every four years and the date is decided by the President (Bronislaw Komorowski). Civic Platform have indicated that they would like the poll to take place on 23rd October, although this will be in the middle of Poland’s six month presidency of the European Union starting on 1st July 2011.
