Saleh injured in attack as violence grows

Published

President Ali Abdullah Saleh was injured in a rocket attack on the presidential palace in Sana’a yesterday. Later he spoke on the telephone saying that he was OK and that the blame for the attack was with the family of Sadiq al-Ahmar the leader of the Hashid tribal confederation.

Seven people were killed in the attack and those injured included the Prime Minister and Speaker of Parliament.

The attack comes as the fighting has escalated in the past week with battles raging across the capital and in other provinces. All foreign nationals have been urged to leave Yemen.
