Saleh returns

Published

Yemeni president Ali Abdullah Saleh has returned to the capital Sana’a after spending three months in Saudi Arabia recovering from wounds inflicted during an attack on his presidential compound.

He returns as the fighting in the capital and beyond has increased, with around 100 people believed to have been killed in the past few days.

Today, being the holy day when many Yemenis leave the mosques after prayers and head for the protest spots, is likely to end up being a critical day. It is likely that the emotions of protesters are going to be enraged by the return of the president, along with the armed forces being much more willing to kill protesters, today could well be the bloodiest yet.
