A 14 kilometre road project with funding by the Millennium Challenge Corporation was opened yesterday by President John Evans Atta Mills, with special guest, former president John Kufuor.

The project, funded by the US funded Millennium Challenge account which aims to reduce poverty by raising farmer’s incomes, will open up the western corridor from the capital Accra towards the Cote d’Ivoire border.

Ghana qualified for the assistance in 2004 with the total package of $547 million including infrastructure projects, 247 school blocks and two ferries to help transportation on Lake Volta.
