UAE pledges food aid

President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has pledged Dhs500 million (£88.6 million; $136 million) in aid to Yemen to help alleviate starvation.

The Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Humanitarian Foundation has been charged with the job of buying produce from local Yemeni markets in an effort to stimulate the economy.
