Violence in Mombasa

Following the killing of a Muslim cleric in the port city of Mombasa there has been three days of violence and rioting in and around the city. There have been at least three deaths and currently there is a heavy police presence.

The city of around one million people in the south east of the country is a centre for international trade and tourism. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office is advising caution.
