VP holds talks with protesters

Published

Vice President Abdrabuh Mansur Hadi has held talks with a committee representing protesters in Yemen. Although there are no signs that he is planning to give in to requests for an Interim Council as proposed in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) mediation which took place several weeks ago.

With President Ali Abdullah Saleh out of the country taking treatment for wounds received during a rocket attack on his compound, the possibility of progress has improved.

Elsewhere, protesters continued to march the streets in most of the big cities and especially in the capital Sana’a. In the northern province of Hajja defecting soldiers attacked a government held military garrison.
