Modest approval for YS at end of first year

A Bangkok Poll recorded in the Pattaya Mail today gives modest approval ratings for Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and her government at the end of their first year in office.

The prime minister receives a 53.1% approval rating and 70.4% want her to continue in her job. Her government is less popular with a 48.4% approval rating for government performance and 29.8% of respondents saying that no minister demonstrated outstanding performance.

The poll also looked at the political parties. The ruling Pheu Thai Party stands on 52.8% approval rating whilst the coalition as a whole is on 43.7%. The main opposition Democrat Party manages just 35.5%.

The newspaper also report that Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva has ruled out a no confidence motion against the government until the budget debate is concluded along with the one year performance statement.
