Agriculture minister replaced

Following the resignation of Agriculture Minister Wagner Rossi yesterday, President Dilma Rousseff has replaced him with Mendes Ribeiro.

A 56 year old Deputy Mendes Ribeiro is in his fifth term having entered public life in 1974. He graduated with a law degree and is a member of the Brazilian Democratic Movement Party (PMDB), the second largest party in the Lulista coalition with 79 seats in the Chamber of Deputies and 20 seats in the Federal Senate.
