Another new prime minister

President Sheik Sharif Sheik Ahmed has appointed Abdiweli Mohamed Ali as the new prime minister.

Mr. Ali is a western educated academic with a master’s degree in public administration from Harvard, a master’s degree in economics from Vanderbilt and a Ph.D. in economics from George Mason University. He is also a former deputy prime minister and minister of planning and international cooperation.

He replaces Mohammed Abdullahi Mohammed who resigned last Sunday as part of the Kampala Accord.
