C P Joshi takes charge of the railways

President Pranab Mukherjee has assigned C.P. Joshi, the Minister of Road Transport and Highways to look after the Ministry of Railways until such time as a replacement is found. This follows the resignation of six ministers of the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) from the government on Friday. The Minister of Railways was the only Cabinet post vacated.

The six posts vacated are Minister of Railways, Minister of State, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Minister of State, Ministry of Urban Development, Minister of State, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Minister of State, Ministry of Tourism and Minister of State, Ministry of Rural Development.
