Cabinet appointed but two decline

Published

Prime Minister Daniel Ona Ondo has carried out a reshuffle of his government following a presidential decree from President Ali Bongo Ondimba.

The president has expanded his government from 34 to 41 members ahead of a general election expected next year. But the appointments appear to have been made without consulting the people on the list before publication.

Jean de Dieu Moukagni Iwangou, the leader of the opposition Union of the Gabonese People (UPG) who was named as the Minister of State for Agriculture said that he had refused the position.

Jean-Robert Endamane of the Rally for Gabon (RPG) is reported as also having declined his appointment as Minister Delegate to the Minister of Urban Development and Housing, saying that he had not been consulted.
