President Désiré Delano Bouterse has carried out a reshuffle over the past couple of weeks with five ministers sacked for underperforming and another three moved into new roles. The president appears to have fallen out with two minor parties, the Brotherhood and Unity in Politics (BEP) and the New Suriname Party (NS) which has reduced the number of parliamentarians supporting him from 36 to 30 in the 51 seat National Assembly.
As yet we have not been able to obtain the names for the new ministers of justice and police and sports and youth.
Other ministerial appointments that have been announced are:
Ginmadro Kromosoeto Minister of Zonal Planning, Land & Forest Management and Regional Development
Michael Blokland; Minister of Public Health,
Shirley Sitaldien; Minister of Education
Raymond Sapoen; Minister of Trade and Industry
Michael Miskin; Minister of Labour, Technological Development and Environment
