Chimed Saikhanbileg is new PM

Chimed Saikhanbileg has been elected as Mongolia’s new Prime Minister two weeks after the previous Prime Minister, Norov Altankhuyag, was ousted by the Grand Hural or parliament following a worsening of the economy.

Mr. Saikhanbileg (45) was previously Minister of the Cabinet Office, equating to Cabinet secretary in the previous Cabinet. The Montsame News Agency reports that he “graduated the 45th secondary school in 1986, a University of Humanities of Moscow in 1991 majoring in history teaching, the State University of Mongolia in 1995 majoring in law, and the George Washington University of Washington D.C. of the USA. He has a master’s degree in law”.

The new Prime Minister now has two weeks in which to present a new government to parliament.
