Defence minister resigns

Published

Defence minister Nelson Jobim has resigned following disparaging remarks about other ministers and an admission that he didn’t vote for President Dilma Rousseff in last year’s presidential election.

His resignation came after a short meeting with the president at which it was rumoured that he was given the choice of resignation or sacking.

He will be replaced by former Foreign Minister Celso Amorim.
