Denmark gets a new Justice Minister

Minister of Justice, Karen Hækkerup, announced on Friday that she was resigning her portfolio to become the head of the Danish Agriculture and Food Council (Landbrug og Fødevarer).

Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt has announced that Employment Minister Mette Frederiksen will replace Karen Hækkerup as the new Minister of Justice.

Former Minister and Member of Parliament Henrik Dam Kristensen has been appointed as Minister of Employment.

Henrik Dam Kristensen (57) is a member of the Prime Minister’s Social Democrats party. He was previously Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries (1994-1996), Minister for Food (1996-2000) and
Minister for Social Affairs (2000-2001). From 2004 – 2006 he was a Member of the European Parliament. In October 2011 he was appointed as Minister of Transport in the Thorning-Schmidt government but was shuffled out on 9th August 2013.
