Deputy Prime Minister named

Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi a top official of the ruling Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) main coalition ally, the Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) has been named as Deputy Prime Minister, although officials said that he would not hold any of the powers of the prime minister.

Elahi is already the Minister for Defence as well as Minister for Industries.

An additional 15 PML-Q members have been made deputy ministers taking the size of the new Council of ministers to 53.
