Economy Minister resigns

Published

Ukraine’s Minister for Economic Development and Trade, Pavlo Sheremeta has tendered his resignation after an apparent falling out over the pace of economic reforms in the country.

The resignation has to be accepted by the Verkhovna Rada (parliament) and Justice Minister Pavlo Petrenko has confirmed that the Minister will remain in place until a replacement is appointed.

The resignation may, however, be somewhat academic as President Petro Poroshenko is expected to announce an early general election on 24th August (Sunday), Ukraine’s Independence Day. Ukraine declared independence from the former Soviet Union on 24th August 1991.
